Causes of Diarrhea in Cats

A lot of the reasons is because of their stomach not being use to the new diet. Some cats have the ability to make adjustments immediately without transitioning from a previous diet.
Chouchou when we first got him, he was already 6 months old and was having trouble digesting food, so he would always have diarrhea. We luckily had some digestive supplements still left from a previous vet visit for another cat. Which help him get use to canned cat food, but not dry food. He still wanted to eat dry food, even though his digestive system could not handle it. And then I tried putting one can of cat food and a sprinkle of kibble on top of the can food. That build his digestive system to get use to eating dry food and he has no issues any more. This is very common with kittens that are no longer nursing. The kittens need to start eating dry food and canned food before they completely stopped nursing. That way they have the time to adjust their digestive system to get used to the new food.
When I brought back my Siamese mix kitten back home for the first time, he would always have diarrhea. That is because his previous owners did not do the kitten milk and dry food together and also sent him to a new home too soon. But usually this kind of adjustment is not usually fatal. It's just uncomfortable to see your kitten go through this. He doesn't have any issue anymore. As for Ragdolls, would recommend the kittens go through adjustment period.
