How to Tell Your Cat is Socialized

A well socialized cat will have good control of their claws and their bite when interacting with humans.

They will be curious or lick their lips when they see you eating and want to try your food.

Our cats even if we never fed them human food, they will think they can eat our food. And for foods they absolutely won't like, they will not believe their noses when they get a whiff of it, because you are able to eat it.

Cats that have been really well socialized, also true with other animals, do not think you are human, but just another big cat walking around with two legs. So they will think whatever you eat is something they would enjoy also.

Another sign a cat is well socialized is they will feel comfortable to express themselves to communicate. They know there are some things we cannot understand when they communicate with us and will not blame you for it. Some are really sweet about communicating and some will get frustrated you are not understanding them. But it shows they are comfortable with you to be able to spend the effort to communicate their needs.

Lulu is the sweetest. When her water or food is gone, she will just get up on the bed and gently nudge me and see I don't get up she will just wait till I get up. I have never had a Ragdoll meow or constantly nag me about feeding them. Chouchou when it has been a hour past feeding time, he will just look at me with disbelief, as if he is saying I am not happy no food human.

I have always felt cats understand a lot of what we say, and it is amazing to see all the time. I have joked with my Siamese mix that I would kick him out, and he got so mad he bit my face. The next time I joked with him, he licked his foot while I was holding him, and cats normally don't try to clean themselves while being held, and he was doing it to make statement, that he was not going to take me seriously.
